Mount Gambia to Victor Harbour - The weather has changed to very hot since we crossed the South Australian border.  Temperatures are in the high 30's to low 40's C.

We left the Showgrounds at Mount Gambier for a long day's drive to Victor Harbour  -  a distance of just under 500km.  We called in at Robe - a small but pretty village with a harbour and had morning tea beside the estuary.

Next stop for lunch was Meningie.

As we travelled through the South Australia countryside, we noticed smoke from a bush fire which gradually came closer and the smoke blacker.  Fortunately the road we were travelling on was not closed so we continued our journey with one eye on the fire.

We arrived late in the afternoon at the caravan park in Victor Harbour which was right on the beachfront within walking distance of the town. There was a very strong cold wind which meant it was too cold to sit out in the evenings. When he was cooking dinner on the bbq near the front in the evening, Terry reckoned it was the coldest he had been in over 40 years! But like his son, James, he is prone to exaggeration!

On the way into Victor Harbour we saw the following eco-house - quite an unusual design.......
