Albany - Sunny to start with but very overcast and cold by the time we arrived at Albany - 19C

We travelled from Esperance to Albany through various small communities –Dolyup, Munglinup,  Minarup and Jerramungup.  (Lots of “ups”  I guess they must come from the aboriginal names). The countryside became a lot prettier with undulating hills, also a lot greener. There were sheep grazing everywhere. Also every village had silos so I assume wheat or something similar is grown in this area.

This cafe was in the middle of nowhere

We stopped at Ravensthorpe & Terry asked the girl in the servo if it was always this cold here – she said no, she reckoned that its skipped autumn and gone straight to winter.  It is certainly a lot colder than we expected.
I was driving when we stopped at Manypeaks for petrol and I pulled in beside the pumps carefully watching the brick posts protecting the bowsers in the wing mirror so I failed to notice that the servo had a particularly low canopy which the owner was watching as he stood in the doorway.  Luckily for me the air-con on the roof of the van just went under it!!  (I would never have heard the end of it from Mr T if I had hit it!!)
We arrived in Albany, booked into a caravan park at Emu Point and went to look around the town.

ANZACS - Albany was the port from where 30,000 Australian troops embarked to sail to Gallipoli in 1914.  There are many memorials around the city dedicated to the troops that were lost.

We had planned to stay here longer but it was so cold and cloudy that we decided to move on.
